THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR WRITTEN BY HARRIET FULU

‘Hey come lets go play.’
‘Not you!  Go  away.’
‘Oh what?  You’re not my friend anymore
just because we didn’t play with that
other person?’ ‘DON’T SIT NEXT TO HER!!!’
Man, I HATE IT when my friends keep changing their
minds about who they should play with.
IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE

You never know when someone is really
your friend because sometimes people pretend
to be your friend and THAT’S NOT NICE!!
Being a friend is hard and making friends
is even harder.
To me,  good friends are important.
They help you when you’re in trouble
and when you’re stuck.
Friends can help you to learn new things and
they will always be there for you.

Friends are suppose to be loyal,
caring and reliable.  Friends are SUPPOSE to
BE there for you when you are
ALONE  or when you are CRYING. Well,
SOMETIMES RIGHT?  Friends DON’T
give up on you.  Friends always
support you no matter what. Friends will
tell you the truth when you do something
wrong.

My teacher said that the friends you chose,
you will become. For example - If you chose friends
who steal you might end up stealing
too. If you chose friends who lie, then
you might lie too.   If you choose
friends  who are responsible and kind
then YOU  might end up responsible and kind too.

When I started in Room 9, it was really hard
for me to find friends because no one wanted
to be my friend.  When we use to sit on the mat,
nobody sat next to me. Felt like I wasn’t there.
When we had to go into groups, nobody wanted
me to be in their group and at playtime and lunchtime
no one played with me.

I use to sit under the lunch shelter and watch people play.  I was alone and nobody
wanted me.  I tried to join people's games
but no one wanted me to be in their games and no one
wanted to talk to me.  Every day when it
was buddy reading time, no one wanted to read with me.
So I read by myself.

One day when I was sitting by myself under the shelter,
Seine came and she talked to me.  We started to
know each other and we sat under the shelter
every day together.  Seine shared her friends with me
and then I started playing with Seine and her friends.
I was SOOOO HAPPY because I HAD SEINE AND
HER FRIENDS.

From what happened to me, I know that people
don’t want to be by themselves.  I didn’t want to
be by myself cos it feels like no one EVER wants
to play with you.  I didn’t know that people could
do that to you.  IT’S SAD.
IT’S NOT good to be by yourself WE ALL NEED friends.

Look for friends who say sorry
when they do something that makes you sad.
When I make my friends sad, I try to quickly  say
sorry, because I don’t want to see my friends upset.
I have three special friends - Sailalelei, Seine,
and Maaiasepi.  Why?  because they care for me.

We sometimes have arguments but we are still
friends and we forgive each other.
Make sure YOU treat people the same;  make sure
YOU are kind and speak in a friendly way.

SO CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS CAREFULLY!!!
Your FRIENDS CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

1. Hey if you tell the teacher I will punch your face.

Hi my speech is about bullying Bullying is bad. cooltext134316426046071.png
Bullying makes people cry. Bullies like to call people names like 'you egg!'  I hate bullies.

2. Bullying means people who shove and push. I have a question for you.
'Have you ever been bullied?'
Bullies kick people because they want to be tough but they are not. Bullies like to be silent. Bullies are bad.

3. Bullies like to get into fights because they think they're tough. Bullies don't like being caught. They don' t like to go to time out. Bullies like to swear to people.

I have been bullied once. It was when I was playing ten second tag. It was the finals and it was me and Joseph.

I tagged Joseph and he tried to get me but he hit me in the face and then HE got mad because he got out.

Is that bullying? Yes, it is. It was just a game and he turned into a bully. A teacher put him in time out. He is my friend and he has to learn that when we are playing a game, it is just a game.

Bullying is not ok for other people. Bullies always do the wrong thing. Bullies always take other people’s lunch money. Bullies send bad comments.

.5. I am sick of bullies bullying people because it is bad. Bullies can change if they want but I think they won’t change unless people tell on them and they get into trouble. Sometimes bullies think that everyone thinks that people forget but people don't forget

6. When you get older you might be a bully but I think you can be a good person. Bullies pick on little people because they are scared of people older than them. I think that bullies are scared of something.

So I think we can help bullies.  I am not sure how but I think that bullies can be helped.

BULLIES
  written by Laseana

                              Hey! you look ugly!
                           ‘Stop it shush your mouth
                             Bullying is not okay!
Bullies are people who tease you
and call you names.

People mostly get bullied at school.
Why are we even teasing and calling
other people names?
Jesus made us to be a family
not to be bullies and to  say
unkind words to other people.

Bullying can make other people
afraid from walking into the school
Monday to Friday and
we should not be afraid.
We should not be teasing and
being mean to other people.

Bullies are people who think that
they can make someone else feel bad
but bullies are really people who
don’t have respect and they are weak as well.

We should not be teasing and calling
names about other people’s parents
because if you are then you are disrespecting
other peoples parents and that’s not good.
Bullies swear because they know
that it can hurt other people’s feelings.
This is not a good thing.

Everyone should be happy and be free
from Bullies.  If you see someone being Bullied
make sure you tell a teacher or
there mum and dad because school should be
a safe place so we can learn. Don’t try
and fix the bully but leave that to the teacher.

Oh I hate seeing people being bullied!
The bullies think they are cool but
they are just fools. So next time
you see someone being unkind to someone else
make sure you tell a teacher or an adult.
Or Just stand up for the person
that is getting bullied.

BULLIES by Latisha

Hey you look stupid!.
stop it I don’t like it!
Well Ilike it stupid egg.!
Stop!!. I’m gonna tell the Teacher.!
go then I don’t care because you are a stupid egg.!
Upps that whole thing was not very nice.

Have you ever been called funny names that you did not like at school? Have you ever been repeatedly laughed at by someone or a group of kids, or a gang in your class in a way that makes you sad? What about repeated threats and even physical abuse by someone for some reason? probably. It is estimated that about 20% of all kids are bullied in school at any time, and about  half have experienced bullying at some point before.

Bullying is when someone keeps doing or saying things to have power over you. This includes you calling you stupid names,  leaving you out of activities, not talking to you, threaten saying or writing nasty things  about you, making you feel uncomfortable or scared, talking or damaging your things, hitting or kicking you, or making you do things you don’t want to do.

No doubt, this can make you feel unhappy, afraid, uncomfortable, depressed, hurt and alone. It can affect your performance in class.

I think that bullying is not good. The most important thing is to tell the teacher or an adult if someone is bullying you then they can help you and maybe help the bully.

Bullies don't have friends because no one wants to be friends with a bully. Bullies need good friends who can help them but they need a teacher and their parents to help them.

I think that bullies might be lonely. That is sad. So if you know someone who bullies you can help them by telling a teacher.

Nobody likes bullies. Please help them.

Rewindable Learning with Fractions

On Wednesday we used a simple app to create a rewindable lesson for students to revisit their learning. This means that we record the lesson and the thinking as well as the writing directly on the screen of an iPad. The video can then be embedded into blogs or put on a class site to be accessed outside of the school day. The Numera group were fantastic and worked really hard on their understanding of the use of half.

We hope you enjoyed our learning (sorry about the rustling audio). We'd love to hear your feedback.
